Our weekend in Washington (a couple weeks ago now... oops!) was filled with graduations, family, food, and fun! We tried to pack as much as we could into one short weekend, and had a blast. (Sorry this is a long, wordy post... feel free to skim and skip down to the pictures at the bottom.)
The trip started a little rocky (flight delays, mis-communications that resulted in my camera, my book to read, and Kassie's graduation card left at home, etc.), but once we finally got there everything went great! We got in late Thursday night, so we slept in a bit Friday morning, got ready for the day, helped with some stuff around the house and then went up to the Elementary school for Libby & Ryker's Parents' Picnic and Field Day. It was the same school that Chris went to, so it was fun to see a little bit of the school and meet some of Chris' old teachers. After lunch and playing, we ran more errands, went to an early dinner to celebrate Kassie's graduation, and then headed out to Connell for the ceremony. The high school that Kassie went to is a small, rural community high school. Their graduating class was about 95 or so. The graduation was held outside at their baseball "stadium" and was really more like a party than any graduation I've ever been to. They even passed out silly string to the seniors after they crossed the stage. Hahaha! It was fun!
Saturday morning the girls went shopping while the boys went shooting. (I scored some super-cute shoes and earrings! Thanks Mom!) Chris' cousin Ben was graduating from Pasco High on Saturday night, so we went to a BBQ celebration for him Saturday afternoon. We managed to squeeze in a little time out on the boat between the BBQ and the graduation ceremony, and then afterwards went back to hang out with family. This was Chris' mom's side of the family that are mostly from the west-side of the state, so we don't get to see them too often. It was fun to visit and spend time with them and get to know them a little bit better. Spencer's girlfriend Corynn came out to join the party late Saturday night, and it was fun to have her there.
Sunday was church, family time, more good food, and then Kassie's Seminary graduation. I love spending Sundays on the farm. They always seem so much more relaxing than Sundays here. I don't know why, but they're the best!
Monday morning Chris went to the dentist (his uncle) to get his teeth cleaned and they found cavities, so he got to have those filled. Fun! hahaha. I got to hang out and visit with Chris' mom while he was at the dentist and everyone else was at work & school. It was a relaxing morning. We met up with the guys for lunch after Libby got home from school. After Tucker and Ryker got out of school we got to go out on the boat again for a bit, and Spencer showed off his mad wake-boarding skills. Then we went back to the house and went swimming (because the water in the river is way too cold to go in without a wet suit). After swimming and dinner we went over and visited Grandma & Grandpa Roundy. It's so fun to visit with them. Since I worked at Grandma's when we lived in Washington the first summer after we got married, it always feels a little bit like home to me when we go back to visit.
Tuesday morning we were supposed to leave at 5:15 a.m. but more flight problems (this time they were our fault) led us to not leave until 11:40. So, we went back to Chris' parents and hung out for a bit and then got to go visit Grandma again and also see Uncle Jeff, Aunt Teresa and Matt. It was nice we got to see them too. Finally, better late than never, we made it back to Utah.
Since I didn't have my camera, I didn't take any pictures, but here are a few that I stole from Chris' mom and Spencer.
Thanks for graduating Kassie, so we had an excuse to come up for a visit!
