In February we got to go up to Oklahoma to visit our friends the Gardners. We originally met them in Utah; they were our neighbors and quickly became our best friends. Then they moved away for Jason to go to law school in Oklahoma. We managed to see each other a few times since they moved, but we were super excited when we moved to Texas because we were only a few hours away! We went up to visit them, celebrate their son's 4th birthday, and meet their baby girl for the first time (even though she's not really a baby anymore). We had a great time playing, chatting and catching up, having a birthday party, eating yummy food, and seeing some of the local sights.
Shelly planned an amazing Cars birthday party and it was so cute to see all the kids running around! The day was a bit windy, which made a few of the activities difficult, but they still had a great time.
They took us to Pop's Soda Shop where they have every kind of soda that's ever been made. It was amazing to see all the bottles and even sample some of the "different" ones (like the chocolate soda I tried... yeah, I'm good with not having that one ever again). There is this giant soda bottle outside that lights up at night. We were leaving just as the lights started coming on, but it was still pretty amazing to see.
Mostly, we just enjoyed being with our friends. We love the Gardners and think of them more like family than friends. We're so glad we got to spend the weekend with you guys! Thanks for making us feel so welcome and for putting up with us all these years!
